Web app development · Hungary

Web app development built around how you work.

We build customer portals, SaaS products, subscription platforms and internal admin systems when templates and no-code tools are no longer enough. CodeYard is a web development company in Debrecen, Hungary, designing and building web applications since 2013, from specification to long-term operation.

When do you need one?

When the template can't keep up, it's time for a custom web app.

Off-the-shelf systems, WordPress plugins and no-code tools get you moving fast, up to a point. After that, every new idea has to fit what a plugin can do, the interface slows down and every update is a risk. A custom web application is built on your exact business logic: it runs only what it needs, and it grows in the direction your business is heading.

As a web development company we don't make brochure websites. We build working software in the browser: systems your customers log in to, subscribe to and order from, or where your colleagues do their daily work. One team takes it from the interface through the back end and integrations to operation.

Typical signs it's time

  • A process runs on spreadsheets and email, and it has started to break
  • Your customers expect self-service, not a phone call
  • WordPress or your boxed system is slow and can't be extended any further
  • You have a subscription or SaaS product idea you want to take to market
  • Your team copies data between systems by hand

What we build

Web applications people use every day.

Every project is different, but most enquiries are about one of these. Each one is responsive and fast, and built so it can later grow a mobile app or new modules.

  • Customer portals

Login, account data, orders, invoices and documents in one place, so your customers stop phoning to ask.

  • SaaS products

Multi-customer software from scratch: permissions, plans, onboarding and a cloud foundation that scales.

  • Subscription platforms

Content, courses or services on subscription, with online payment and plan changes, as on gotomarketing.hu.

  • Internal admin and business systems

Back-office interfaces where your team manages orders, customers, stock or approvals.

  • B2B web shops and ordering portals

Ordering interfaces for partners, connected to your ERP, like the Trafik Expressz B2B web shop.

  • Migration from legacy systems

We move users, content and subscriptions off WordPress or an outdated system while the business keeps running.

How we build

Fast, secure, and still easy to extend years from now.

A web app is a good investment if it is still easy to work on three years later. That's why we focus on the same things on every project.

  • Performance from day one

Each screen loads only what it needs. That's how a gotomarketing lesson became 8× faster to load.

  • Security and permissions

Roles, audit logs and secure login, so everyone sees exactly what they should.

  • Integrations

ERP, CRM, invoicing, payment provider or your own API: data ends up where it is needed.

  • Web and mobile on one foundation

If you need a mobile app later, it builds on the same back end. No starting over.

Our process

How we work

A predictable process with clear milestones, from discovery to long-term support.

  1. 01. step: Business and technical discovery

We get to know your business goal, your current processes and the technical constraints before we talk about any solution.

  2. 02. step: Specification and solution design

We put together a concrete, documented plan: what we build, with which technology, on what timeline.

  3. 03. step: Iterative development

We work in short cycles with regular feedback points, so anything that needs correcting shows up early.

  4. 04. step: Testing and rollout

Thorough testing and a controlled rollout make sure live use goes smoothly.

  5. 05. step: Long-term support

Delivery is not the end, it is just the beginning. We maintain, extend and scale the system through your next business stage too.

Technologies

Proven tools, not trend-chasing

We choose the technology to fit the project. For web apps that is usually React or Vue on the front end, Node.js or Ruby on Rails on the back end, and AWS, Google Cloud, Heroku or a self-hosted Coolify server to run it, matched to the size and budget of the project.

Hungary and Europe

A team in Debrecen, clients across Hungary and Europe

Our office is in Debrecen, Hungary, and we are happy to meet in person. Our clients come from all over the country, and most of the work runs just as well online: demos every two weeks, a shared task board and short decision paths.

We work in English too, so collaboration with international teams and European clients is smooth.

FAQ

What people ask before a web app project

If your question isn't here, bring it to our first conversation.

  1. 01

How much does custom web app development cost?

It depends on the features, the integrations and the number of interfaces, so we don't quote a figure off the top of our heads. We start with a free consultation, and after the specification you get a fixed plan and schedule that shows exactly what to expect.

  2. 02

How long does it take to build a web app?

Discovery and specification typically take 1–1.5 months. An MVP, the first live version with the most important features, usually takes 3–4 months. After that we keep extending it based on real use.

  3. 03

What is the difference between a web app and a website?

A website mostly presents. In a web app people get work done: they log in, enter data, order, subscribe and approve. That takes business logic, a database, permission handling and often integration with other systems.

  4. 04

    Who owns the source code?

We hand over the source code and the system is yours. If you later want to take it further with your own team, you get documented, readable code.

  5. 05

Can you rebuild our existing WordPress or legacy system?

Yes. We replaced the gotomarketing.hu WordPress site with a custom web app: members, content and subscriptions were moved over while the service kept running, and members log in with their old passwords.

  6. 06

    What happens after launch?

Delivery is not the end. We maintain, extend and scale the system, either under a separate support contract or in the Studio model with a fixed monthly capacity.
