Trafik Expressz

From PDAs to a complete sales system.

Trafik Expressz's nationwide sales team was visiting tobacconists with outdated handheld terminals. We built them a complete sales support system: a tablet app for field sales reps, and a B2B webshop and iOS/Android apps for partners, all connected to their existing SAP Business One.

The daily work screen: today's route with 15 partners, issued invoices, shops visited and daily revenue, with the week's partner visit list and statuses below.
  • 35+regional sales reps working with the tablet app
  • 400+products in the catalogue, with live stock
  • 3surfaces on one SAP Business One backend
  • 100%national coverage, with shop visits every two weeks

The challenge

A nationwide team with outdated tools.

Trafik Expressz supplies Hungary's National Tobacco Shops, with 35+ regional sales reps and a two-week visit cycle. Field work depends on speed: every minute a sales rep spends recording an order is one shop fewer in the day.

  • Outdated PDAs in the field

Sales reps took orders on old handheld terminals. A small screen and a slow system meant every shop visit took longer than it should.

  • An outdated B2B webshop

Partners ordered through an old interface that showed neither the range nor the promotions the way it should have.

  • Nothing on mobile

Tobacconists stand behind the counter all day. There was no mobile app, so ordering meant sitting down at a computer.

Before

With the new system

  • Outdated PDAs, slow and clumsy order taking

A tablet app built for field routes

  • An outdated B2B webshop

A new B2B webshop for partners

  • No mobile app for customers

    iOS and Android B2B apps

  • No view of what was in the van and at headquarters

Van and central stock on one screen

The system

Three surfaces, one shared foundation

Sales reps, partners and headquarters see the same data, because all three surfaces work from Trafik Expressz's existing SAP Business One system.

  • For sales reps

    Tablet sales app

Route planning, selling from the van, catalogue, invoice printing and personal KPIs, built for field work.

  • For partners

    B2B webshop

The full range with categories, promotions, live stock, order tracking and the contact details of their own sales rep.

  • For partners

    iOS and Android app

The same B2B ordering on the phone, so tobacconists can order from behind the counter.

Tablet sales app

A day in the field, from route plan to commission

The tablet app follows the rhythm of van sales: planning in the morning, shop visits during the day, and a clear view of where the sales rep stands at all times.

Real designs from the tablet app.

  1. 01. Route planning

The sales rep decides in advance which shops to visit. Every partner shows its turnover and last visit, plus a list of inactive partners worth contacting again.

    • Planned route
    • Sales figures
    • Inactive partners
Route planning: the partners on the route with sales figures, and below them the inactive partners, who can be added with a single tap.
  2. 02. The day on one screen

The day begins: the route's partner list with statuses, the shops visited, the invoices issued and the day's revenue, all in real time.

    • Daily route
    • Status per shop
    • Daily revenue
The daily work screen: today's route with 15 partners, issued invoices, shops visited and daily revenue, with the week's partner visit list and statuses below.
  3. 03. The catalogue in the shop

In presentation mode the tablet turns towards the partner: the monthly promotional catalogue and the product catalogue, full screen, page by page.

    • Presentation mode
    • Promotional leaflet
    • Product catalogue
Presentation mode: the Trafik Expressz promotional catalogue full screen, with pages to flip through, shown to the partner.
  4. 04. Sell from the van, or ship by courier

What's in the van can be handed over on the spot. What isn't goes into the central cart and is delivered by courier from headquarters. One order, two sources, each with its own summary.

    • Van cart
    • Central cart
    • Courier delivery
The cart split in two: a van cart for immediate handover and a central cart for courier delivery, each with its own order summary.
  5. 05. Invoices on site

Once the order is placed, the invoice can be printed in the shop, and the till shows all of the day's receipts in one place.

    • On-site printing
    • Till
    • Daily receipts
Till: the day's receipts and print settings, with printer selection and number of copies.
  6. 06. Personal performance and commission

On the My profile / KPI page the sales rep sees their monthly and daily performance, customer satisfaction and commission by category in real time.

    • Real-time KPIs
    • Commission by category
    • Six-month trend

What the sales reps got

Seven features that matter in the shop

Not an office system squeezed onto a small tablet, but a tool that works between the van and the counter, one-handed and fast.

Instant sales from the van

The van stock is on the tablet: if the partner asks for something that's in the van, the sales rep hands it over right there.

Van stock: the products in the van with item number, image, quantity and price, with search and filters.

Courier from headquarters

If it isn't in the van, it goes into the central cart and a courier brings it.

Catalogue on the tablet

Promotional leaflet and product catalogue in presentation mode, turned towards the partner.

Commission in real time

Personal sales, KPIs and commission by category, not at the end of the month.

On-site invoice printing

Invoices can be printed in the shop, with the receipts kept in the till.

Route planning

Shop visits planned in advance, with all partner information on the tablet.

Barcode scanning

Find a product with the camera, no typing needed.

B2B webshop and mobile app

Partners order when it suits them.

Tobacconists can order between visits too: the new B2B webshop brings the full range, the promotions and order status together in one place, with the same prices and stock the sales rep sees.

  • Categories, filters and search across the full range, with live stock levels
  • Promotions and promotional bundles, featured product ranges
  • Favourites, past orders and the status of open orders
  • The contact details of the partner's own sales rep in their account

iOS and Android B2B app

iOS Android
  • B2B ordering on iOS and Android, with the same range and prices as the webshop
  • Partners can place an order from behind the counter, even between two customers

SAP Business One integration

Not a new ERP. New possibilities on the existing one.

Firelight was already managing products, stock and partners in SAP Business One. We didn't replace it, we built on top of it: the three new surfaces work from that single source, so headquarters also sees what's happening in the field in real time.

  • One source, three surfaces

Products, prices, stock, partners and invoices come from SAP Business One. Whatever changes there changes on all three surfaces.

  • Works offline too

Orders can be taken without signal. The tablet stores them and syncs as soon as the connection is back.

  • Van and central stock

The van is managed as its own warehouse, with stock transfer requests. The sales rep always sees what they carry and what's at headquarters.

  • Invoices in the system

An invoice printed on site goes into SAP just like a webshop order.

How it was built

One digital transformation, three surfaces.

One team designed and built the tablet app, the B2B webshop, the mobile apps and the SAP integration. So field sales reps, partners and headquarters use the same system, not three separate ones.

  • UX and design

Tablet app and B2B webshop interfaces based on field work and tobacconists' daily routine.

  • Tablet sales app

Route, orders, catalogue, stock, till and KPIs, with offline operation and sync.

  • B2B webshop

Categories, promotions, product pages, cart, orders and profile for partners.

  • iOS and Android B2B app

Partner ordering on mobile, in both app stores.

  • SAP Business One integration

A data connection to the existing ERP: products, stock, partners, orders, invoices.

  • Printing and barcodes

On-site invoice printing and camera-based barcode scanning on the tablet.
